Marriage Equality now in effect

From Saturday 9 December 2017, same sex couples may lodge their Notice of Intended Marriage form with their Civil Celebrant.

As has been required for some years, all couples need to lodge this documentation at least one month prior to their intended wedding date.

Only in some strictly defined circumstances can this one month wait period be potentially reduced.

Accordingly, it is expected that most same sex weddings will occur from Tuesday 9 January 2018.

As a Commonwealth-registered Marriage Celebrant, I have received comprehensive briefings regarding the changes as well as updated documentation reflecting the revised law from the federal Attorney-General’s department.

Whilst centrally based in Daylesford, I operate throughout Victoria and also interstate as required.
