A passion for celebrancy – and people
An ideal celebrant simply facilitates but does not dominate a ceremony.
That said, a celebrant must garner trust and confidence in their ability to undertake this important role.
I offer a wealth of knowledge, life experience and professional training to underpin my vocation as a professional Civil Celebrant.
Yet beyond the qualifications and experience, the one major consideration is a true passion for celebrancy – and particularly for the people it involves.
Wise, warm & welcoming
My customer service ethic is well-honed after, most recently, some 14 years of ownership and management of the renowned Shizuka Ryokan, the Japanese country spa & wellness retreat in Hepburn Springs.
With my wonderful wife Margie, I built this unique hospitality business into a multiple award-winning tourism icon attracting intense media interest, including the broadcast of various profile programs on Japanese television.
Most rewarding were the occasions when I assisted guests to celebrate special occasions, whether anniversaries, birthdays and even proposals.
For instance, I often collaborated to create an ideal romantic environment by laying out rose petals spelling out a marriage proposal on the guest’s bedding.
Such experience exercised and further enhanced my sensitivity, patience and interpersonal skills.
I believe it’s important to offer clients full transparency and a friendly yet efficient ease in doing business. Accordingly, my comprehensive suite of ceremony packages is designed to make the selection of ceremony services both simple and stress-free.
Doing it right, every time
Arranging special events, whether professionally or even for my own wedding, have all served to finely attune my eye-for-detail and creativity.
Appearances on radio and television (including singing on Japan’s equivalent to “Countdown”) and ongoing professional development have all served to amplify my communication and presentation abilities… but sadly, nothing seems to have improved my singing!
A lifetime of experience, whether by living overseas, undertaking experiential leadership programs, engaging in the corporate world, or experiencing a so-called ‘tree-change’, has contributed immeasurably to my presence, credibility and authority as a Civil Celebrant.
I know my material, having completed significantly more training than the government’s strict legal requirements dictate.
First in my class to graduate from my marriage celebrancy training, I have also pursued additional qualifications in the conduct of other Rites of Passage celebrations.
Pride in my work + strong ethics
Not one to rest on my laurels, I continue my ongoing personal and professional development through active participation in associations such as Australian Marriage Celebrants Inc.
In doing so, I happily abide by various Codes of Conduct in addition to following my own ethical and moral compass, which happens to include strong support for marriage equality.
Indeed, I was an inaugural graduate of the LGBTIQ+ “Wedding Masterclass” conducted by The Equality Network.
I continue to be successful in fulfilling the stringent ongoing requirements of the federal Attorney-General’s department to maintain my status as a Commonwealth-registered marriage celebrant.
I’m proud of my work, and so I happily commit to a comprehensive service quality guarantee.
